San Angelo City Council members say they will begin enforcing ordinances for short-term rental properties in San Angelo. This vow comes as the number of property owners who are operating short-term rentals in the city is on the rise. On average, there are 120 to 150 short-term rentals operating each weekend, though only 28 are officially listed. The city will now enforce the requirement that short-term rental owners obtain conditional use permits and pay hotel occupancy taxes. The city will also enforce an ordinance that says short-term rentals must be at least 500 feet apart, or away from a school unless they’re in a commercial zone.
